Information for San Francisco Bay Area Pet Owners

Animal Internal Medicine and Specialty Services (AIMSS) and Animal Emergency Services (AES) are locally owned and operated animal hospitals that work with local family veterinarians to provide veterinary care for pet owners after their regular veterinary offices have closed or when specialist care is indicated.

New Patients and Clients Are Always Welcome

Providing the finest specialty, emergency, and critical care, we care deeply about your pet and the Bay Area families we serve. Learn more about the specialty and emergency services we offer and get answers to frequently asked questions. For your convenience, we also offer prescription refills.

How to Become a Client

You do not need a referral from a veterinarian to have your pet seen by AIMSS/AES.

To make an appointment for your pet with our veterinary specialists, please follow the 3 steps below.

  • Call us at (415) 566-0540 to set up an appointment with the specialist of your choice.
  • Complete the online AIMSS new client form.
  • Please bring recent medical records, including surgery reports, diagnostic results, and a list of current medications, to your pet’s appointment. Or if you are being referred to us from your general veterinarian, ask them to send over the records for you.

Emergencies

We are open for walk-ins 24/7/365 days a year. No appointment is necessary for emergency cases. We triage the emergencies, so the most life-threatening conditions are seen first. Please read more about our emergency services, including how to determine if your pet is experiencing an emergency.

Forms of Payment Accepted

We accept cash, Visa, MasterCard, cashier’s checks, and CareCredit. CareCredit is a credit card designed for medical expenses that offers low or interest-free payment options. Apply online or at our hospital.

Convenient Location with Parking

AIMSS/AES is located at 1333 9th Avenue in San Francisco’s Inner Sunset district, near Golden Gate Park. Accessible to many locations in Marin County and the Peninsula, we even provide parking—a rare thing in San Francisco and a help in an emergency situation.
